At one point, the Anoka resident spent $50 a day for a bag and eventually became a dealer. Four years ago, he woke up in the Anoka County Jail for conspiracy to distribute heroin. Realizing the drug could kill him, Yaekle, now 44, sought treatment. [...] Authorities are planning extra patrols in 13 counties that had more than half of Minnesota’s alcohol-related deaths and serious injuries over the past three years.
